Human Resource Development
Bioinformatics is the process of relating large computer databases to biological systems which help us better understand life's processes in healthy and disease states, and find new or better drugs. It is being practiced worldwide by academic groups, companies and other research consortia and represents the future of biotechnology.
In pursuit to strengthen the CSIR HRDG efforts to train manpower and to meet the challenges posed by modern day science in 20th century, a program was devised with joint collaboration with CDAC Hyderabad and JNTU Hyderabad to start an “Advanced Course in Bioinformatics” with a intake of 24 students selected on the basis of “All India Common Entrance Test” during the year 2002. The course is designed for a period of 06 months including the project work and hands on experience for the course students. During the course period, students were taught in the areas of Sequence analysis, Parallel computing, Evolutionary computing, Datamining, Molecular modeling, Artificial neural network, Numerical methods and optimization techniques, Pharmacogenomics, Kinetics and biostatistics. TEN successful batches of students were trained in the area of bioinformatics by CSIR-IICT till the year 2011.
Apart from these activities, our division is facilitating the students of M.Sc., M.Tech from various Colleges/Universities from all over the country for project work in bioinformatics.
- 13 high-end systems
- LINUX and Windows servers.
- Connectivity to PARAM super computer
